AOL is preparing to make available for download thousands of old television shows, all free of charge and sponsored by advertising, unlike Apple music videos, TV shows' approach of charging $1.99. The effort will utilize a new video format called AOL Hi-Q, which promises DVD-quality fullscreen playback.
AOL Hi-Q will also be used beyond just television shows. As part of a trial, more than 100 videos have been encoded in the format and can be viewed on AOL.com, which include music videos and movie trailers. More content will be added in the AOL Hi-Q format over time.
In order to download and play the high-quality videos, you need to meet the minimum system requirements:

Internet Explorer 6.0

1. Install Windows Media Player 10.0
Download Windows Media Player 10.0 from here and install.
If you don't install Windows Media Player 10.0, when you click the Hi-Q videos at AOL, a window will appear.
2. Install AOL Hi-Q Video Delivery Manager
Open Internet Explorer, click the videos you like at hiqvideo.aol.com, choose "I Agree" when a window popups. After a while, AOL Hi-Q Video Delivery Manager will be installed and the videos will start downloading.
3. Play Hi-Q high-quality videos
After downloading, you will see it at "My Videos".
Click "Play", Windows Media Player will open it automatically. But you must obtain a license.
Click "Yes", after a moment, the access will be granted.
Click "Play", you can enjoy the great videos now.
In fact, AOL Hi-Q videos are .wmv files. After downloading Hi-Q videos, you can find them at \Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
